"AB "Vakarų laivų gamykla" was established in 1969, privatized by the Estonian BLRT Grupp Concern in 2001. In 2003 metais VLRĮ was reorganized into AB "Vakarų laivų gamykla" company group with 23 companies.  Group main activity fields – ship repair and modification, ship building, stevedoring and storage services, metal construction production, metal processing, hot galvanization, transport services, procurement, etc.

The Ship Repair Yard, SC "Laivite" is located at the coastline of an ice-free bay in an ancient part of Klaipeda city. Though the official date of Ship Repair Yard foundation is considered September 28, 1946, the history of the SC "Laivite" was started long before it. Since Middle Ages vessels had been repaired in Klaipeda’s region named Vite. During the Seven-years war in 1756-1763 at the place of our SC "Laivite" location, the large Ship Repair Yard was built.

Neptun Werft has gained a lot of experience - both in shipbuilding and in the construction of sections. State-of-the-art plant and process engineering as well as the high qualification of the staff make the affiliated companies Meyer Werft and Neptun Werft  a constant in the national and international shipbuilding industry.
