Community of European Shipyards Asssociations – CESA

In their General Assemblies, AWES, the Association of European Shipbuilders and Shiprepairers and CESA, the Committee of EU Shipbuilders Associations, decided on 28th May 2004 to operate as one joint organisation under the name of COMMUNITY OF EUROPEAN SHIPYARDS’ ASSOCIATIONS – CESA.

The yard consept was conceived in the 1980's. Drydock No. 1 was commssioned and in operation by Sept. 2000. The Yard has continued to develop and now has drydock No. 2 in place with the first vessel being hauled in March 2002. The dock No 2 at Grand Bahama Shipyard is one of the largest floating docks in the world. Its has a lifting apacity of 82.500 tones and is capable of ocking VLCC's up to 250,000 tons dwt and cruise ships up to 150,000 tons grt
