In connection with our training courses which have been scheduled for the 2nd tertiary 2009, we are pleased to announce as follows:

  Date: 8th & 9th July 2009
  Location: DNV Piraeus, Akti Kondyli 26-28, Piraeus
  Timeschedule: 09.30hrs – 17.00hrs
  Deadline for registrations: 30th June 2009

Who should attend:
Superintendents, newbuilding project responsible and ships’ officers.
Personnel in operations, technical, quality and safety departments.
Individuals seeking knowledge in the classification concepts, basic statutory concept and
requirements (SOLAS, MARPOL, Load line etc).

Class Rules
Survey concept and regime (hull and machinery)
SOLAS
MARPOL
Load Line
ISM - ISPS
Exercises
Examination

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participants should, in general terms, be able to explain:
The interrelation between ship owners, class societies, insurers, flag authorities, and last but not least; port state authorities.
The role of class societies.
How class works and how to find related information through DNV Exchange.
Practical implications of statutory regulations and important issues in Rules & Regulations to come.
A practical understanding of the hull strength, stresses, corrosion and fatigue.
Hull and Machinery surveillance schemes.
Management systems, ISM and ISPS.

Teaching Method:
The course is a combination of lectures, case discussions and interactions among participants. Active involvement will add to the learning, benefits for individual
participants and will be dependent upon the open sharing of shipping industry experience.

Pre-requisites:
It is assumed that the target group holds significant competence prior to course and many issues must be seen as clarifications, refreshing and updates.

Information:
Course presentation is in English and Greek (if no foreign participants) language however the material is always in English language.
Scheduled for 16 hours – 2 days (including breaks).
A full set of course notes will be given to the participants which will enhance the lessons learnt during the sessions.
The course instructors are experienced surveyors from DNV Piraeus office.
Upon completion participants will receive a Certificate of Training from DNV Academy.

990 EURO/delegate
